Customer Spotlight: Bad Idea Brewing

1. Tell us a bit about your company and what you do ?

We are Bad Idea Brewing, and as our name may imply, we are a brewer of beers. After almost 4 years of planning, serving beer at festivals, and spreading the word, we opened the doors to our brick and mortar location in Columbia, Tennessee on September 7, 2019. We have a 1,400 sqft brewery and taproom located inside the Columbia Arts Building, which is nestled in Columbia's awesome, historical Arts District. Our commitment is to offering an ever-changing array of stylistically diverse and non-traditional beers - a luxury we are afforded by our small, 3bbl brewhouse - while facilitating the exchange of thoughts, ideas, and culture in our taproom and beer garden.

2. How has merch helped your company grow or gain recognition?

Our branding, and to a large extent, our merch, have been a large part of helping us gain recognition in Middle Tennessee. Keeping an inventory of soft, well-fitted t-shirts in a variety of colors, as well as non-apparel items like koozies, has been a help - both in building recognition for our business and bringing in non-beer sale revenue. The customer who sits at the bar and spends time with us is usually the same customer that wants a shirt when they leave.




3. What are your merch goals for the coming year?

Our merch goal for the coming year are to keep up with demand on on staple items (short sleeve t's, koozies), while beginning to dabble into seasonal offerings such as light weight zip up hoodies, long sleeve hooded shirts, and the like. Eventually, we'd like to begin offering 'one-off' shirts for special events and beer releases.
